Welcome to Joy of the Earth Community Garden (JOTE), a welcoming and vibrant community garden located in Frankston, in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. Established in 2012, JOTE is a shared green space where people come together to grow food, connect with nature and build meaningful community connections.

We are passionate about sustainable gardening, environmental care, health and wellbeing, and creating an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome.

What is a Community Garden?

A community garden is a shared space where individuals and families come together to grow food, learn from one another and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. It’s a place to get your hands dirty, share knowledge, meet like-minded people and contribute to a more sustainable and connected community.

At JOTE, the garden is as much about people as it is about plants.

Get Started Growing Your Own Food:

You don’t need a backyard to grow your own food. At Joy of the Earth Community Garden, members can apply for a garden bed or participate as a social member, taking part in working bees, workshops and garden activities.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or completely new to growing food, you’ll find a supportive and friendly environment. Tools, shared resources and guidance from fellow members are available to help you grow healthy, seasonal produce while learning sustainable gardening practices along the way.
