SIAG filming & photography
Joy of the Earth Community Garden has been invited by the Social Inclusion Action Group (SIAG) to take part in a special professional photography and video project showcasing the impact of programs supported through SIAG funding across Frankston City.
SIAG is capturing the stories of around 10 funded community projects, and we are delighted that JOTE has been selected as one of the projects to feature.
Earlier this year, JOTE was successful in receiving a SIAG Targeted Inclusion Action Grant for our project “Raising the Beds, Raising Participation.”
This funding enabled us to build new raised garden beds, designed to make gardening at JOTE more accessible and inclusive and to provide more opportunities for people of different ages and abilities to participate in our garden community.
A very special thank you to JOTE member John Ballard, who generously contributed many hours of in-kind volunteer labour to help build the raised garden beds and bring this project to life. John’s time, skills and hard work have been an important part of making this project possible, and we are incredibly grateful for his contribution.
Now SIAG would like to capture the story behind the project – and, most importantly, the people who make JOTE what it is.

our new raised garden beds and other areas of JOTE
short interviews with members who are happy to share their experiences
the wonderful community spirit that makes JOTE so special.
You don’t need to prepare anything or be interviewed if you don’t want to be. Simply come along, bring your gardening gloves and be part of the morning.
The Tapestry of Frankston City
The theme of the project is the “Tapestry of Frankston City” – recognising that our city is made up of many different people, voices, experiences and stories, with each person adding another thread to our community.
The final project will include professional photographs and a 90-second video showcasing JOTE, with the possibility of JOTE also featuring in a longer SIAG video.
What a wonderful opportunity to showcase not just our garden, but our members, our volunteers, our friendships and the sense of connection and belonging that has grown at JOTE.
We are incredibly proud that JOTE has been invited to participate, and we would love to have a fantastic turnout of members to help us show Frankston what Joy of the Earth Community Garden is all about.
